SurgiSeal®

SurgiSeal® Topical Skin Adhesive is high purity, antimicrobial, liquid topical skin adhesive that can replace sutures for incision or laceration repair.

SurgiSeal® is the only topical skin adhesive in the world to receive FDA 510K Clearance in demonstrating inhibition of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria growth.[1]

1. SurgiSeal IFU: Due to the anhydrous property of the SurgiSeal adhesive, gram+ and gram- bacteria which become incorporated within the adhesive upon application, are not expected to grow.

In-vitro studies have shown that gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria do not proliferate within the SurgiSeal® adhesive. Moreover, SurgiSeal® demonstrates a log reduction of greater than 7 in organisms including Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), Staphylococcus Epidermidis, Corynebacterium Pseudodiphtheriticum, Klebsiella Pneumoniae, Escherichia Coli and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa.
[2,3]

SurgiSeal® Topical Skin Adhesive provides the optimal balance between strength and flexibility. In replacing sutures for incision or laceration repair, it can save time, provide a flexible, water-resistant, protective coating, and eliminate the need for suture removal.

Post-Operative Benefits

In addition to closing wounds, SurgiSeal Stylus adhesive offers many post-operative benefits:

Image

Microbial Barrier
SurgiSeal adhesive creates a microbial barrier by inhibiting bacteria from entering the wound and reducing the chance of infection.

Image

Water Resistant Protection
SurgiSeal adhesive is water resistant after application, allowing patients to shower the same day as the procedure.

Desirable Cosmetic Outcome
Clinical studies demonstrate positive cosmetic results for 2-octyl cyanoacrylate over sutures, eliminating “railroad track” scarring.

STRENGTH

In our in-vitro laboratory studies, SurgiSeal® Topical Skin Adhesive yielded the highest average wound closure strength, which measures the ability of an adhesive to maintain approximation of wound edges [4,5]

FLEXIBILITY

SurgiSeal® adhesive, due to a longer alkyl chain, has demonstrated greater flexibility in in-vitro testing than n-butyl cyanoacrylate (BCA) products, in terms of the ability of the adhesive to not crack when subjected to bending in the immediate post-operative period [6]

Table showing Surgiseal outperforms other products in flexibility when subjection to bending in the immediate post-operative period

COVERAGE

In-house in-vitro laboratory testing demonstrates each 0.5ml applicator of SurgiSeal Stylus™ adhesive excels compared to a 0.5ml applicator of another currently marketed adhesive. Moreover, surface area coverage of a SurgiSeal Stylus™ adhesive applicator is more than twice that of the leading competitor’s 0.5ml applicator (29.7in2 vs. 11.5in2) [7]
